About Us
Jack and Nick Cotter are the Cotter Brothers. The boys have been entrepreneurs from a young age, setting up Cotter Bros Firewood aged 13 and 11 respectively. The business has received many accolades since. The firm was awarded WFQA (Wood Fuel Quality Assurance) certification at the National Ploughing Championships in 2013, and have maintained WFQA certification since.
Cotter Bros Firewood is a prime example of how the firewood industry is providing local employment and locally sourced renewable fuel, which keeps money in our local economies and boosts enterprise in rural areas.
In 2019 the brothers started their second business, ‘Cotter Organic Lamb’, direct selling the organic, 100% Grass-Fed lamb produced on the farm. The business won the 'Rising Star' award at the Irish Quality Food Awards 2019, featured on RTE's The Late Late Show in 2020, and won a 2021 Blas na hEireann Award.
Jack and Nick are currently working on ‘Cotter Agritech'. They have developed a system that uses advanced algorithms to reduce chemical use in agriculture by identifying and targeting only those animals that will benefit from treatment. The product won Best Sustainable Innovation at the 2020 RDS Spring Awards, and the business won Verizon's European-wide Young Entrepreneur Challenge in 2022. Nick also become Global Champion at the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards in 2022 with the idea. The product was launched in Ireland and the UK in 2022.
